“The AAPPA Group exists to amplify the voices of Black Women across the Diaspora to affect policy change.”
Mission
Who we are
The African American Public Policy & Advocacy Group, also known as the AAPPA [AH-pp-ah] Group, is a New Jersey-based nonprofit organization incorporated in 2024. Founded by Lori Person-Baynard, the organization was created to amplify the voices of Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Women of Color (BIWOC) around the world and ensure they are represented in the policies that shape their lives.
We are a team of dedicated advocates, leaders, and changemakers committed to advancing equitable policy solutions through education, advocacy, and empowerment. Our work centers on addressing systemic barriers, elevating underrepresented perspectives, and driving meaningful, lasting change for BIWOC globally.
-
Our workshops are designed to be participatory, providing space for learning, reflection, and practical skill‑building. Sessions are available virtually or in person and tailored to the needs of each audience.
-
Our seminars are learning‑focused sessions that encourage exploration, discussion, and knowledge exchange through presentations, facilitated conversation, and guest speakers. Seminars may be offered virtually or in person and adapted to specific audiences or themes.
-
We bring together speakers with diverse perspectives and lived experiences for facilitated conversation and audience engagement. Panel discussions are designed to foster dialogue, shared learning, and thoughtful exchange.
-
Members of our organization are available for speaker engagements, including keynote talks, guest presentations, panel discussions, and moderated conversations, delivered virtually or in person.
-
We engage in human rights and public policy advocacy at the local, national, and international levels. We attend public sessions and write and endorse statements that reflect community priorities.
